What Turning 6 Looks Like: Littlest Pet Shop Party Ideas

Sun, 05/13/2012 - 12:43pm -- Jessica Baudin-...

I can't believe it. Tomorrow I am going to be a mother to a six year old! Wasn't it just yesterday I was taking a 5lb baby home from the hospital weeks before we expected her? As we have learned, that early entrance is very typical of Bria, who is very driven and looking forward to the next thing.

Simple Tie Dye using Sharpies

Sun, 04/22/2012 - 6:01pm -- Jessica Baudin-...

On Friday afternoon Bria and I spent 3 hours making 10 of these shirts:

My five-year-old Creative Jazz students are being fireworks for the year end concert at J'Adore Dance. I love this class! They are little spitfires full of energy and creativity who always make me smile. They are dancing to Katy Perry's "Firework" because I love the message of letting your inner light shine! I found the tutus below back in January but needed shirts to complete their outfits.

Crayon Pointillism for Kids: St. Patrick's Day Rainbows

Fri, 02/24/2012 - 3:29pm -- Jessica Baudin-...

St.Patricks Day is still a few weeks away, but I wanted to give you time to try this fantastic project Bria and I worked on last week. This project is the perfect balance of artistic process, art appreciation, and a beautiful final product you will be proud to share! It should be noted that this project did take us 4 hours (we split it up over two 2 hour sessions) and would work best with children 5 or older who have a decent attention span.

Creative Mom Confessions: Craft versus Art

Sat, 11/12/2011 - 1:32pm -- Jessica Baudin-...

To dispel any rumors that I am a "super mom", I have decided to confess some things to you.  My hope is that it will show you I am just like any other parent, trying my best to be flexible in the craziness that is raising a family. That my ideas do not live in a creative purist vacuum. That I am not perfect. How boring is it to read only about perfect people?

So let's tackle something I have had a few of you ask me about: Craft versus Art

Precious Memories: Family Photos by Irene Austen Photography

Wed, 11/02/2011 - 9:24pm -- Jessica Baudin-...

Time passes far to quickly. Our children seem to grow up over night. People we love leave this earth faster then we ever imagined possible... All we are left with are our memories. Precious memories we hold in our heart. That we conjure to our mind's eye. And maybe if we are lucky are captured in time by the lens of a photographer.

A few weeks ago my family had the pleasure of spendng a moring with Irene Austen Photography. Irene has the gift of catching special moments and nuences with her camera. She makes family photos a fun memory all of its own. Which is critical if you want to get real smiles from your kids rather then forced teethy grimaces. She is a true artist.

Giving Thanks

Sun, 10/09/2011 - 12:16pm -- Jessica Baudin-...

I love Thanksgiving. It's a time to reflect and celebrate all the blessings in our lives. This year I have so much to be truly thankful for...

Chris

I could not ask for a better partner to travel with on this journey of life. He supports me, challenges me, and loves me more fiercely then I could have ever imagined. It's cliche to say but Chris is my best friend. He understands me better then anyone (sometimes even better then I understand myself). I have watched him grow into an amazing father and role model for our girls.

Artzooka!

Sat, 09/17/2011 - 11:41am -- Jessica Baudin-...

We love Saturday mornings in our house. The girls wake up early, tip toe into our room and whisper "Can we watch TV?". They get a grumbly response of some form of  yes (usually from my hubby as I am an expert of feigning sleep). The girls squeal delightedly and run off to the living room allowing the parental unit an hour or so more of bed lounging. The girls are only allowed to watch TV in the mornings on the weekend but more on our TV habits in a later post....

The last few weekend when I have finally dragged myself out of bed, motivated by my morning chai latte, I have found the girls watching Artzooka on CBC Kids. Artzooka is a arts and crafts show for kids, that reminds me of one of my favorite shows as a child Take Part! Remember?
